Lottery Changed Lives

How have lottery winners fared?

Surely the news on television or in the newspapers that someone has won the lottery jackpot and become rich makes many people jealous. But then the fate of that person is no longer of any interest.

Roger and Lara Griffiths’ burnt-out dream

Prior to winning the lottery in 2005, the couple had lived in harmony for almost $3 million. They understood each other, didn’t quarrel, and hardly ever argued. And the money made their biggest dream come true, namely to buy a big house worth almost a million dollars and an expensive Porsche car.

But after just six years of life together, there was no trace of their former happiness. Roger simply drove away in his car after his wife accused him of cheating on her. As for the house, after a while, there was no trace of it after a fire.

Betrayal from family members for William Post

Back in 1988, the Pennsylvania lottery brought a lucky man the sum of 16.2 million dollars. But a year later the sum was gone, but there were debts.

As William himself says – it was a nightmare and he wished it had never happened.

The girl was easily persuaded to split the winnings with her, while her brother hired a hit man, hoping to become the sole rightful owner of the entire sum after Post’s death. Lucky himself invested in the family business, but none of it was profitable, resulting in debts. This led to breakdowns and soon Bud found himself in prison for threatening a debt collector with a shotgun.

Over time, this was resolved and he lived a long life, but on a modest salary.

Examples of How Lotto Winning Changed Destiny

Kay and Martin Tott with a lucky ticket of $5 million

In 1994, the Tott family won $5 million in the UK, but disaster struck and they lost the lucky ticket.

And it wouldn’t have been so bad if they had reported it missing immediately, which they didn’t do until 30 days later. It was the biggest undeclared winnings in the whole story.

The spouses talked about how the thought of such a sum was very liberating. But after it becomes clear that nothing is going to work out, the feeling is quite the opposite.

Continuing to work after winning

If there is a challenge to spend a large sum of money, there is no problem in doing so. In 2004, Sharon Tirabassi won $10 million. And she immediately started spending all the money on expensive cars and luxury clothes, exotic travel and so on. And in just 10 years, she was back to her old pace of life. She worked as a bus driver and lived in a rented house.

Murder of a spouse

Ibi Ronchaoli won $5 million in the lottery in 1991, but didn’t tell her own spouse how she wanted to spend it all. And when her husband found out that the woman had given the 2 million to her child from her first marriage, he simply poisoned her.

Losing out on casino winnings

Evelyn Adams can be called lucky twice, as that is how many times she won the lottery 2 years in a row. The final amount was $5.4 million. But it didn’t take her long to dispose of it and she wanted more. And to that end, she went to a casino in Atlantic City. And that’s where she left her winnings.
